What we do

One-on-one culturally competent therapy

One of the best ways to change our habits, improve our reactions, and help us heal mentally is connecting with a therapist. It can be life changing to seek counselling from a culturally-competent Black therapist who understands and can relate. We help Black clients in the GTHA work through and heal from various trauma including anger, depression, anxiety, grief, racialized incidents etc.

Meet Our Therapists
Workshops to teach and build allies

We design and host workshops on Black mental health, race-based trauma, mental health stigma and more, for any organization that wants to better understand and better respond to their clients, friends and acquaintances who may be experiencing this kind of trauma. We encourage real conversations, sometimes tough introspection, but ultimately leave workshop attendees with a better grasp of how to interact with those facing mental illness.

Support The Cause

Why our work matters.

There is a huge stigma in the Black community about mental health and seeking help. This fear of judgment can deter individuals from getting the help they need.

BMHMC is the first of its kind in the GTA that caters to clients who typically can’t afford mental health services, and provides low cost treatment options, when needed, with a therapist who is culturally understanding.
